Calstock Village Hall is a community space based in the heart of the village and considered a vital asset within the Tamar valley.
It serves as a venue for diverse activities, workshops, events, and services contributing to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of the local area. It also acts as a meeting place for local clubs and organisations. This allows residents to interact and participate in their community through a wide range of activities from sports events and fitness classes to hobby groups.
These activities promote physical well-being, opportunities for social interaction and help create a sense of unity among residents.
Following an initial grant of £8,375 from the Community Capacity Fund, which coved a feasibility study, this project will see major enhancement and renovation of Calstock Village Hall. The work will create a flexible internal structure, allowing the hall to meet the changing needs of the local community and enable multiple activities to take place at the same time.
It will result in an improved external appearance, with the existing bar/café area relocated to make the most of the riverside vista and better serve the hall and patio area. A new entrance will improve accessibility increasing the number of people who can enjoy their calendar of events.
There will also be a number of smaller, but much needed improvements, such as storage for growing pre-school activities.
This funding will revitalise the building and help to ensure the future of this important community asset.
