Cornish Metals, South Crofty

The Good Growth Programme is investing more than £4.7m to support ambitions to make Cornwall a world-class region for tech metal mining, including lithium, tin and tungsten. Investment includes £192,000 for feasibility studies to support the planned reopening of South Crofty tin mine, which is seen as a strategic tin asset for the UK.

Wave of Events

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme is investing £135,000 in the Cornish Pilot Gig Association’s Wave of Events project to develop a calendar of gig racing events across Cornwall and Scilly. This includes the World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly where Good Growth support has helped create a new fan zone for supporters to follow the races on land.

We Are Shining

We Are Shining

Wildworks, the UK’s leading landscape theatre company, is being supported by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme to celebrate Cornwall’s long traditions of community engagement and large-scale outdoor performance through a year-long project called We Are Shining. This film focuses on a community kite-building workshop held to encourage conversations around life and death, remembrance and reflection.

The Old Library, Bodmin

The Old Library, Bodmin

Bodmin’s historic Old Library has been transformed by a £760,000 renovation which was supported with a £180,000 investment from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme. The former Passmore Edwards Free Library is a vibrant cultural and community hub including co-working and business space, performance area, café and community room. It is run by Community Interest Company IntoBodmin.

Liskeard Library

Liskeard Library

Real Ideas Organisation have used investment from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme to revitalise the beautiful Liskeard Library building and transform it into a state-of-the-art public facility. The aim is to attract people of all ages with a diverse offer combining 21st century library provision with specialist tech facilities, co-working and an activity and learning programme for the local community and businesses.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk

An award-wining Cornish confectioner is planning a major expansion after securing an investment of £852,573 from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth programme. Buttermilk will consolidate and expand two production units on to one site at its Bodmin base, seeking to create 14 quality jobs in the future and doubling production capacity.

Saltmill Park

Saltmill Park in Saltash has been transformed thanks to a £23,000 investment by the Good Growth Programme. The project, led by Groundwork South, has seen the park’s facilities redeveloped and improved to attract new users and engage with young people to improve health and wellbeing through a youth-led up-skilling and engagement project.

Trelya community skills hub in Penzance

Trelya community skills hub in Penzance

Trelya is an award-winning charity in Penance that helps local people overcome barriers to work, wellbeing and equality and works with some of the most challenged communities in England. The Good Growth Programme is investing £1.35m in creating a community skills hub at the charity’s Lescudjack Centre headquarters in the town.

St Mewan Parish Council Memorial Garden

St Mewan Parish Council Memorial Garden

St Mewan Parish Council near St Austell wanted to create the Queen Eilzabeth II Memorial Garden for all the village community to enjoy, promoting social inclusion and healthy living. The project was supported with a £60,000 investment by the Good Growth programme. Completed in 2023, it includes a sensory garden and outdoor gym equipment and is a popular community asset.
