Treviscoe Community Centre is a local community venue which hosts monthly pensioners lunch club, Brownies/Rainbows, model car racing club, Treviscoe Bird Keepers and a toddler group amongst other activity. The hall is also available to hire for private functions and events.

Following building surveys, structural work in the form of replacing the steel footings was identified in order to retain the building longer-term. The external and internal porch doors also have high thresholds with a heavy wooden ramp for wheelchairs to negotiate the threshold. The porch floor is uneven and the main hall floor is permeable and impossible to keep clean, acting as a barrier to attracting fitness and community groups carrying out any “floor level” activities. Whilst a lack of WIFI deterred other potential users.

The CLUP project will replace the steel, create a safe, accessible entrance for those with limited mobility, wheelchairs and pushchairs, and fit a vinyl flooring to the main hall. WIFI and presentation equipment, such as an interactive Smart Board, PA system, projector and screen will make the venue suitable for off-site training and virtual meetings.

With better internet access, the Committee will establish a silver surfers club, warm hub and internet café. Cornish Lithum will be supplying refurbished laptops for the centre to use and volunteers have been secured from other local businesses to assist and guide the “surfers” around the internet. In addition, the improvements will attract a new fitness class and raise income through increased bookings helping the building to be more financially sustainable.
