Hwel An Gwrians / The Creation Works will replace a row of derelict garages with a sustainable, accessible, residential rehearsal and development centre situated in the heart of Par bay. The building’s design combines reusable energy systems and rain water harvesting to affect low running costs that will result in an affordable space for artists to make work in. Situated on the edge of a park and close to a beach, The Creation Works will combine high ceiling with rigging points, heated wooden floor, and large windows to offer a beautiful space in which artists of all disciplines will be able to work comfortably. Accessible accommodation on site, EV charging, and proximity to a mainline rail station and bus routes will facilitate green travel. Cornish hedgerows and biodiverse planting will further enrich the site.
The programming of the Creation Works will focus on participatory arts to the benefit of the local community, and the wider community of Cornish performance-makers. Through partnerships with local community and sector organisations and researchers, the Creation Works will focus on developing models of engagement, and ways in which the impact of that engagement can be measured over the long term. An emphasis on work with children & young people will underpin all activity.
