St Piran’s Hall Raise the Roof

St Piran’s Hall Raise the Roof

Feasibility study for major works needed at St Piran’s Hall

Lead Organisation: St Piran’s Hall

Investment Priority: Community and Place

Fund: Community Capacity Fund

SPF awarded: £9,960

Location: Goldsithney

St Piran’s is an incredibly busy Hall built in the 1970’s. It serves the community for miles around and has a wide range of users from toddlers to the Parkinson’s and MS groups that use the short mat bowls. The hall is run by a charity and the volunteers work hard to keep up with maintenance and undertake minor works themselves as well as raising funds for repairs. “The key aim for the project is to ensure that we have a sustainable parish hall serving the community for the 21st century.”

Work funded by the Community Capacity Fund grant showed that the massive investment required to improve the fabric of the building is not going to be an effective use of resources, due to the type of construction. The Parish Council will now move forward to design a hall for the future and develop the plan with full community backing. Due to the vital importance of access to its facilities for so many people, the intention is to keep the old hall in place while a new one is built.
