St Martin’s Church Centre Refurbishment Project

St Martin’s Church Centre Refurbishment Project

Lead Organisation: Liskeard Parochial Church Council

Investment Priority: Community and Place

Fund: Community Capacity Fund

SPF awarded : £22,000

Location: St Martin’s Church Centre, PL14 3AQ

The hall complex that is used by the community and the church was a former national school and includes a grade II listed building, as well as a separate second hall, now has major damp issues and needs a complete refurbishment.

Following community consultation and ambitious initial architects’ plans, they now require finalised designs and drawings (RIBA stages 1-3) so planning permission / listed building consent can be achieved. This comprehensive piece of work will help them to phase the project and approach relevant funders for each piece of work.

The annual footfall is estimated at 32,000 per annum, of which 65% relates to pure community use, 15% relates to community activities run by the church, with 20% being church related activities. The improvements will create additional capacity, a warmer more welcoming venue with improved facilities and add an estimated additional footfall capacity of 10,000.

The objectives of the final project are to:

  • Create additional rooms for hire
  • Improve the energy efficiency
  • Upgrade all the kitchens,
  • Upgrade all the toilets,
  • Introduce high-speed Wi-Fi
