St Clement Parish Council is commissioning a feasibility study to explore the replacement of its ageing timber parish hall with a modern, accessible, and energy-efficient community building. The study will assess two options: a modular structure or a permanent onsite construction.
The current hall, now around 100 years old, is no longer fit for purpose due to its deteriorating condition and limited potential for retrofit. Ivy has begun growing through the floor, and the building’s structure poses challenges for energy upgrades and long-term use.
To address this, the Parish Council will work alongside the newly formed Friends of St Clement Parish Hall to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while planning for the future.
Key priorities for the proposed new building include:
- Improved accessibility for all users
- Reduced running costs and enhanced energy efficiency
- Modern kitchen and toilet facilities
- A flexible community space designed to meet a wide range of local needs
The new hall will serve not only the parish but also nearby communities on the outskirts of Truro, helping to meet growing demand for community space as other local halls reach capacity.
This feasibility study is a vital first step toward creating a sustainable, inclusive, and well-equipped venue that supports the long-term needs of the St Clement community.
