Hayle Surf Life Saving Club is acquiring specialist boards to support the launch of “Splash School,” a program developed by the National Surf Life Saving organisation to teach primary school children essential self-rescue skills for a variety of water-related situations. The initiative aligns with the national physical education curriculum and will be offered to local primary schools.
Qualified volunteers will deliver tailored sessions, ensuring inclusivity for non-swimmers by adjusting group sizes or providing extra support. Schools typically spend a full day with the club during activity weeks, giving students the chance to take part in both theoretical and practical lessons on the beach and in the ocean.
By equipping young people with vital water safety skills, this project will help reduce risks, build confidence, and foster a lifelong respect for the sea.
