Good Growth Community Capacity Funding is helping the Roseland Musical Society purchase a Yamaha grand piano. This new instrument will replace the electronic piano currently used for concerts, which has limited the quality of performances and the enjoyment of audiences.
The absence of a grand piano has also discouraged many professional pianists from travelling to Cornwall to perform. Young Cornish musicians have faced similar barriers, as they have had no access to a high‑quality piano for practice or public performance.
The new grand piano will change this. It will be available to tour between venues across the Roseland and neighbouring communities, supporting village halls, musical societies, and festivals such as Carrick Concerts and Nova. This will help bring more professional performers to rural Cornwall and broaden the cultural opportunities available to local audiences.
Crucially, the piano will also be a resource for aspiring Cornish performers. It will give them access to a professional‑standard instrument, helping them develop their skills and advance their musical careers.
By investing in this shared community asset, the funding strengthens the region’s cultural offer and creates new opportunities for both established artists and emerging local talent.
