Calstock Parish Council is keen to have sources of renewal energy on their properties and land wherever viable. To be able to do this, they need a clear action plan and budget to make sure that they are using the most efficient methods, both for environmental gain and public spending.
To take this project forward, the Parish Council will commission a specialist renewable energy consultant to produce a feasibility study that will look at all the sites and buildings they have identified. The study will incorporate suitability for renewable energy installation, preparation of tender documents and an action plan. Community consultation will also be an important part of this project as it’s delivery may result in an increase in the precept if grant funding is not available.
The project will be led by the Environmental and Climate Emergency Committee which is part of the Parish Council. The feasibility study will explore installation of EV charging points on Parish Council owned car parks as well as installation of a wind turbine or solar panels on their field next to the allotments. The installation of PV panels on their buildings and assets is something that the Parish Council is keen to get advice on because of the possibility of energy self-sufficiency which will reduce running costs in the longer term.
