o-region works across theatre and film telling stories that raise smiles, punch guts, broaden horizons and affirm lives.
Working class, artist lead and rooted in our native Cornwall, o-region produces work for local, national and international audiences, and provide talent development and showcasing opportunities for all ages and backgrounds.
Throughout 2024, o-region will be undertaking an ambitious and interwoven programme of community / participative work (FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH) which will lead up to a premiere of a new show, WHITE HORSE which will perform at Redruth’s Regal Theatre in early 2025.
FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH
Throughout 2024, o-region will deliver a series of community / participative projects across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Residencies will involve teams of artists (writers, filmmakers and composers) working in and with identified communities to explore the themes (sense of place, belonging and home) of their new show WHITE HORSE.
They aim to discover the essence of what makes a community or place unique. Sessions will lead to original stories, music and film which will be presented in a series of community specific public performances.
Selected works will also be audio recorded, scored and produced to be presented along with original music and film work through the o-region website, socials and other community outlets.
Community Participants will be invited as guests to attend and have work presented as part of the WHITE HORSE run.
WHITE HORSE
In 2025, informed and inspired by the work undertaken through the FTHM, o-region will produce a large scale show, WHITE HORSE. Written and directed by Simon Harvey, based on the Michael Morpurgo novel The White Horse of Zennor, the show will be aimed at family audiences (aged 8+) and will feature live music, puppetry and innovative digital film and sound design.
