Newquay Community Orchard is installing solar PV systems across its seven-acre site to help reduce rising energy costs and support the long-term delivery of vital community services.
The Orchard supports around 400 people each week, many facing challenges related to poverty, low skills, and health conditions. It offers inclusive education, volunteering, and wellbeing programmes, alongside drop-in services, a café, and events in collaboration with local NHS services.
The solar PV installation will include battery storage and all necessary infrastructure, helping the organisation cut energy expenses and reinvest savings into its community work. A third-party provider will carry out the installation, and the Orchard will engage participants through educational activities to raise awareness of renewable energy and sustainability.
This project will not only deliver financial and environmental benefits but also create learning opportunities and strengthen the Orchard’s role as a resilient, community-led space.
