The Village Hall Committee is upgrading the main hall lighting by replacing the existing fixtures with modern LED lights. This improvement will make the hall brighter, more energy-efficient, and easier to maintain. Currently, the high ceiling makes changing bulbs every two years a challenge. LED lights will last up to ten years and increase light output by 27%.
This project complements the committee’s wider renovation works funded through the Community Levelling Up Programme and Jubilee Village Hall Fund, which include a larger, better-equipped kitchen, a new meeting room for hire, an accessible toilet, and a more efficient boiler. Together, these upgrades will make the hall more welcoming and functional for all.
The LED lighting installation also responds to recommendations from an energy audit funded by the Community Capacity Fund in 2024. By reducing energy use and running costs, the hall will be more sustainable and affordable for community groups.
As the heart of this rural village, the hall hosts a full calendar of events and provides vital services such as a community café and over-50s fitness sessions. These improvements will help attract more groups and ensure the hall continues to thrive as a hub for local life.
