Millbrook Skatepark is currently in a poor state and poses safety risks to its users. The project aims to address these issues by transforming the skate park into a sustainable and accessible facility that will serve future generations for many years. This will be achieved by replacing the existing tarmac and metal ramps with a long-lasting concrete base. By doing so, the skate park will not only cater to wheeled sports enthusiasts but also become a valuable asset for the wider community.
In order to kickstart the project, the Community Capacity Fund grant will be used to conduct necessary preliminary surveys, design engineering drawings, project planning and utilities searches. These steps are crucial in completing the planning process and applying for additional funding to turn the revitalization project into a reality.
The upgraded skate park will provide a safe and enjoyable space for individuals of all ages and abilities to engage in physical activity and foster a sense of community. The project is already making strides in engaging with the local community by gathering their input and aspirations. Creating connections within the community leading to potential mentoring opportunities, skills development, and collaborations with individuals from various sectors.
