Lostwithiel Town Council is leading a project which will result in capital works that regenerate the heritage buildings to increase the vitality of the town centre for future residents and visitors.
Lostwithiel’s historic town centre is a conservation area with three listed buildings (C16 to mid-C18) owned by Lostwithiel Town Council. These comprise two Grade II* and one Grade II structures that currently house Lostwithiel Library and the Town Council administrative office.
The detailed feasibility study will assess these unique heritage buildings – it will build on earlier studies, develop a business case and high-level operating cost plan for each proposed option and the expertise of a Quantity Surveyor to produce measured building surveys and drawings.

The Council anticipates solution(s) that are financially viable and promote the regeneration of the town and local economy whilst being considerate and proactive with respect to the climate crisis; and with the involvement of the community.
This vision aims to restore the buildings, safeguard the town’s heritage, and identify a financially sustainable use that is of community benefit and that complements the ancient heritage of the unique town that was once the capital of Cornwall.
