Illogan Bloomers, the village’s volunteer gardening group, is growing its capacity to care for public spaces by adding a new shed and a range of tools designed for all ages and abilities. These improvements will make tasks more accessible and help recruit new volunteers, ensuring the group can continue and expand its vital work.
The Bloomers are the workforce behind clearing overgrown areas and planting flower beds throughout Illogan, creating attractive spaces that boost pride of place and community wellbeing. With the new resources, the group plans to maintain existing projects and introduce new ones, including a gardening club for Illogan School.
This expansion is about more than tools, it’s about building an ever-growing volunteer team and sharing knowledge across generations. Current members range from 17 to 71 years old, and the group hopes to welcome even more people to join in, learn, and contribute to the village’s green spaces.
