Golberdon Playground

Lead Organisation: South Hill Parish Council

Investment Priority: Community and Place

Fund: Community Capacity Fund

SPF awarded: £3,365

Location: Golberdon, South Hill Parish

South Hill Parish Council will modernise the playground in Golberdon by purchasing new play equipment to create a safer, more inclusive, and engaging space for children and families across the parish and surrounding rural communities.

The current equipment is outdated and no longer meets the needs of the growing population. This project will:

  • Replace old equipment with modern, accessible play structures.
  • Encourage physical activity and social interaction among children.
  • Support community wellbeing by creating a vibrant and welcoming space.

Located next to the village hall, the improved play area is expected to increase bookings for family events and community gatherings, strengthening the role of the hall as a local hub.

With the nearest alternative playgrounds over 2.5km away, Golberdon’s play area is a vital asset for families in nearby villages and hamlets that lack their own facilities. The new equipment has been carefully selected to complement, rather than compete with, neighbouring playgrounds helping to attract new users and reinvigorate local interest.

This investment will ensure the play area continues to serve as a valued space for recreation, connection, and community life in South Hill.
