Godolphin Cross Community Association (GCCA) exists to improve the social, educational, economic and recreational quality of the lives of the residents in Godolphin Cross village. The association brings together the statutory, voluntary and private sectors to create and offer a range of services for people of all ages in the village; these include toddler groups, youth groups, outreach projects for elderly residents, arts and heritage interest groups, community lunches, farmers markets and a host of other events and services for all ages and interests. Godolphin Old Chapel was bought by GCCA on behalf of local people in 2017 and refurbished to facilitate use by all age ranges and abilities. The Community Association trades through its commercial activity, including venue hire, licensed bars, food events, markets and fundraising efforts and employs or provides a work site for 10 part time staff.

The last phase in the refurbishment of the Old Chapel is the installation of batteries to store energy produced by 34 solar panels already installed. The installation of batteries will significantly reduce the cost of rising energy bills and safeguard the 10 jobs that operate from the building. It is estimated that this installation will save up to £2,000 in costs annually through lower bills, which can be re-invested into community programmes and achieve a very low carbon footprint for the building.

GCCA would also like to expand its youth facilities by opening up a project for young people aged 11-16 years old, offering a social education/skills curriculum to complete coverage of the younger age range in the village and increasing the engagement of young people in the community. Currently we run a club for 7-11 year olds and also a specific Pegasus Project to ease the transition of Year 6 children from Godolphin Primary to local secondary schools, helping to ensure a smooth and stress free movement into the next phase of their education. By opening up this extra provision, we will increase our economic activity through the employment of a Youth Leader and Activity Leader.
