The popularity of the stunningly situated Geevor Cafe has grown significantly with both visitors and local people putting an increased amount of pressure on the existing kitchen facilities. The current kitchen was installed in 1997 when Geevor welcomed 20,000 visitors a year, there is now closer to 50,000 catered for with the same original facilities.

The Shared Prosperity Fund Investment will enable a number of innovative solutions to re imagine and improve existing spaces, while also creating new space to ease the pressure on existing operations. It will also create exciting possibilities for growth and new employment opportunities.

  • Creation of a bespoke production kitchen/takeaway outlet

This will remove the pressure from the indoor seating area in the Café and allow focus on a sit-down dining experience rather than operating an ‘eat in’ and ‘take out’ service simultaneously. By having a production kitchen the cafe can open up revenue streams that it currently cannot obtain due to production limitations, event catering for example.

  • Altering the kitchen and front of house footprint

By freeing up space in the existing kitchen the ‘footprint’ can be altered in a way that makes the kitchen more user friendly and productive. The project would create a smaller more fit for purpose front of house. This would allow for increased seating which ultimately leads to more revenue and a better dine in experience.

  • Re-specification of kitchen equipment and toilet facilities

More modern and efficient equipment will lead to a reduction in Geevor’s carbon footprint and create a more pleasant and professional customer experience. All toilets are in need of refurbishment to bring them up to modern standards.

  • Installation of bespoke catering container

A larger bespoke kitchen container will replace an old storage container adjacent to the cafe, creating more preparation and storage space.
