Food Troops CIC is a non-profit food education service, delivering food parcels to those in need and providing the community with education, workshops and services in the areas of food, permaculture and community. They offer cookery classes and food growing workshops, distribute and redirect surplus food from their community kitchen and garden based in the heart of Redruth.

This project focuses on achieving their social aims by developing their cookery and gardening workshops on site as well as developing a mobile catering set-up in order to support the project on site in Redruth. The mobile community kitchen/catering van will serve up foods that have been produced by the community on site as well as redistribution of gleaned and surplus produce. They will be operating at events and be able to charge money for these, with the money being put back into funding the core team to continue operating on site. This grant will fund the organisation for at least 6 months to develop and train the team and establish a regular timetable for workshops and growing schedule on site. Their volunteer co-ordinator will also be reaching out to local organisations to encourage volunteers to join the project.
