Badgers Food Forest is a Community Interest Company based in West Penwith. They will be creating a space in which individuals and groups can participate in projects focussed on sustainable healthy food production and other nature-based activities beneficial to the local community and the planet.

They will use permaculture principles for all activity taking place on the site and will focus on nature-friendly activities aimed at promoting health and wellbeing in an outdoor environment.

Core activities will include: fruit and vegetable production including orchard areas, tree planting and management including coppicing; water and renewable energy harvesting; bee keeping; wildlife conservation including biodiversity enhancement; education/training/skills sharing; art, drama and music making; nature-based recreation and therapy.

The Community Capacity Fund grant will be used to commission professional services to carry out the technical surveys and reports required for a planning application to improve access to the site and parking as well as the installation of a utility building. They will also be carrying out community consultation and buying in the services of a Community Permaculture Design Consultant to advise on site design and layout.
