The Shared Prosperity Fund will support a wide range of walking, cycling and wheeling schemes to be delivered across Cornwall enabling people to walk, cycle and wheel for their everyday journeys whether that be to work, school, employment, shopping or for leisure. Schemes to be delivered include;
Pedestrian improvements at;
- Camborne School
- Rock Road, Pityme
- Tregolls Road, Truro
- Improved, safer access to a park at Roskear,
- Par Green
- Phernyssick Road, St Austell
- Trevarth to Lanner
- Roche Road, Bugle
- Quenchwell Road, Carnon Downs
- Treleigh School, Redruth
- Rosemellin School, Camborne, &
- Southern Road, Callington.
The Shared Prosperity Fund will also part fund the Falmouth Active Streets scheme enabling increased walking, cycling and public transport journeys between Falmouth and Penryn. Additionally the funding will enable future active travel schemes to be delivered though the development of scheme designs in the second year of the programme and the production of local cycling and walking infrastructure plans for Hayle and St Ives and the China Clay area.
The public e-bike hire scheme already operating across five towns in Cornwall and operated by Beryl bikes, will also be expanded to Saltash providing the opportunity to use the ‘on demand’ service to travel around those towns and in to and from Plymouth where Beryl also run a public e-bike hire scheme.
All of the above will support Cornwall’s journey to carbon neutrality as well as supporting active more healthy lifestyles.
