1st Bude Scouts is taking a major step toward securing its future by developing plans for a new Scout Hut. This project will enable the group to engage a qualified architect to refine designs and submit a formal planning application, bringing them closer to a permanent, fit-for-purpose base.
The group currently supports around 100 young people aged 6–18 and 25 adult volunteers from across North Cornwall. Despite its success, it has operated without a usable Scout Hut for over a decade, relying on temporary venues like Stratton Village Hall while using its derelict hut only for storage.
This project will:
- Fund architectural services to progress planning for a new Scout Hut.
- Create a safe, accessible, and permanent space for youth development and volunteer coordination.
- Enable expansion of inclusive, community-based activities that build confidence, skills, and connection.
Run entirely by trained volunteers, 1st Bude Scouts offers adventurous opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds. A new Scout Hut will allow the group to grow, thrive, and continue delivering life-shaping experiences for years to come.
