Falmouth Town Council is proud to announce the official opening of the newly renovated Kimberley Park Lodge, now home to a vibrant digital community hub and a permanent base for local radio station Source FM.

Vacant for over a decade, the Lodge has been thoughtfully restored – designed by M Hormann Architects and delivered by local contractors Richards – into an inclusive, creative space for everyone. Its transformation marks a key milestone in Falmouth Town Council’s ongoing commitment to investing in accessible cultural services that benefit both residents and visitors of all ages.

The building was officially opened by Jayne Kirkham MP, Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, and Cllr Alan Jewell, Town Mayor of Falmouth. The event also marks the launch of the next phase of the Re-Source Project – a dynamic programme of outreach, training, and digital opportunity which will be based at the site.

The renovation was made possible through joint funding from Falmouth Town Council and the UK Government, through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council is responsible for managing projects funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme.

The refurbished Lodge now features:

• Two studios currently being prepared for radio production and podcasting as well as a separate podcast booth
• A flexible rehearsal and recording space for workshops and community activity
• A long-term home for Source FM
• A welcoming new community café – The Lodge

In addition to providing a new home for Source FM, the building will also host the Re-Source Project – an ongoing initiative focused on community engagement, creativity, and skills development. With a dedicated outreach officer already in post, the project is working with local schools, community groups, and organisations to ensure the space remains inclusive, accessible, and filled with opportunity for people of all ages.

The Re-Source Project will offer hands-on training in areas such as music production, radio broadcasting, podcasting, music creation, and digital content development – helping to equip participants with valuable, digital skills.

Jayne Kirkham MP Member of Parliament for Truro and Falmouth, said: “This is what active local councils should be doing for our communities – turning a long-closed building into a creative welcoming place that supports learning and community. I’m delighted to see Source FM gaining a home of its own and to see the Re-Source project already reaching out and making a difference.”

Cllr Alan Jewell Town Mayor of Falmouth, said: “Falmouth Town Council is incredibly proud to have delivered this project on time and to budget. Transforming a once disused building into a thriving community media hub has been a remarkable achievement. The Re-Source Project, along with Source FM’s new home, will have a lasting, positive impact on the local community—offering opportunities for creativity, training, and social connection for everyone.”

Simon Neild Source FM, said: “With this new home, we’ll be able to welcome more people into radio and media and offer real training and hands-on experiences to those who may not have had access before. We’re building not just a space, but a culture of inclusion, creativity, and opportunity.”
