The Living Wage Foundation has revealed the shortlist for the Living Wage Champions Awards 2025.

The Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the Living Wage movement.

Cornwall Council has been shortlisted, alongside Truro Foodbank, in the Local Champion category for it’s work through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme to shift employers’ mindsets and behaviour towards ensuring local people receive a fair wage.

Between April 2022 – March 2025, the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme has used the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) to invest £137m+ into the local economy, funding 143 individual projects.

The Programme is underpinned by Cornwall Council’s unique ‘Good Growth’ policy that puts equality, fairness and the environment at the centre of all growth. The policy is central to the SPF programme and covers a broad range of issues from reducing carbon emissions to addressing the gender pay gap.

Every project that has received SPF investment is either a Real Living Wage employer, or is contractually obliged to become one by the end of the project. While it is not yet possible to provide an exact figure, it is estimated that the number of people benefitting from this policy will be several hundred.

This year’s ceremony will be held at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Thursday 3rd July 2025. The winners of each category will be announced on the night.
